HAND EMBOSSING

WITH VICTORIA CHOULES

Class description

What is embossing? It is the process of creating a raised image on a piece of paper. You can emboss on a finished calligraphy piece to add dimension and visual interest to your artwork. Victoria Choules will teach Carol DuBosch’s simple yet effective method for doing your own embossing at home. We will learn how to do a simple embossed piece from start to finish.

Tools & Materials

Manila file folder

X-acto knife with a fresh sharp blade

Embossing tool*

Tracing paper

Glue stick

Light table

Paper to emboss

(Optional: cutting pad or thick cardboard surface for cutting out your stencil on)

*if you don’t have an embossing tool, you can use the pointy end of a bone folder, the end of a knitting needle, an empty ball point pen etc.
