Join us as we go through Copperplate Inspired Majuscules and learn Mollie's method of adding flourishes to create feathery bird inspired letters.

I believe in trying all the tools
I like to setup rules and then see what following them creates
When writing copperplate, my set of rules are: up is light, down is heavy
Do not rotate the paper – unlike most flourishing
1” to ¾” tall
With remainder of class: encourage class to develop their own letter, provide magazines and other examples for inspiration

This very free version of Versals is a wonderful companion alphabet for creating contrast of space and texture. They dance and the addition of watercolours brings another level of spontaneity to calligraphic work.
Open to all skill levels.

Supply List:
HB and 2H pencil, fine tipped waterproof black liner like a Mars Staedtler Pigment Liner (or similar pen) size 03 or 05. Must be waterproof.
Watercolours, practise or layout pad, pieces of watercolour paper you have on hand either hot or cold press or another paper that will handle watercolour. Canson XL Watercolour Paper works well.
Small round brush for painting. Size #4 or #6
Optional: coloured pencils eg: Prismacolour
Recording will be available through June.
