"Feathered Flourishes" with Mollie Hunt

Join us as we go through Copperplate Inspired Majuscules and learn Mollie's method of adding flourishes to create feathery bird inspired letters. 

From Mollie:

General Agenda

•  World according to Mollie, not classically educated calligrapher, just enthusiastic!
• Going to teach you a Majuscule script, mix of brush/copperplate inspired letters
• Hand Out, Pen and Ductus will be provided
• Go through each letter, show alternatives
• Influences: illuminated letters, dove and feather flourishing (classic concepts)

 I believe in trying all the tools

 I like to setup rules and then see what following them creates

  When writing copperplate, my set of rules are: up is light, down is heavy

 Do not rotate the paper – unlike most flourishing

 1” to ¾” tall

With remainder of class: encourage class to develop their own letter, provide magazines and other examples for inspiration
